The Environmental Protection Agency has announced that it is indefinitely delaying the issuance of proposed New Source Performance Standards under Section 111 of the Clean Air Act that would regulate greenhouse gas emissions from new, modified and existing electric power plants. EPA was facing a September 30, 2011 deadline for issuing the proposed NSPS, based on settlement of litigation with environmental groups. A new deadline will have to be negotiated with the environmental group petitioners.
